| Broadcasting to America and the world! |
| The purpose of The Bible Live radio program (click for the radio reading schedule) and ministry is to help fulfill the last command of Jesus the Messiah (see Mt. 28:18-20) by reading the Bible to as many people as possible, trusting the God of the Bible to revive His people, save the lost, and influence America and other nations to meet the Biblical conditions for spiritual awakening and blessing. |
Every weeknight at 8:00 o'clock (CST) sharp THE BIBLE LIVE hits the airwaves of the ninth largest city in America and forty surrounding South Texas counties. Following a high-energy opening and a brief informative presentation about the Bible, full-blooded Apache Indian Soapy Dollar greets listeners warmly - usually with a "howdy" instead of a "how". He often claims that THE BIBLE LIVE is the most unique radio talk show on the air today, mainly (he says) because God does the talking!
Pretentious? Well, if the Bible is "God's Word" (as Soapy and others believe), then his claim just might be true, because THE BIBLE LIVE is not about Soapy, and it's not even another program about the Bible. Over half of the 52-minute program is the Bible. After a quick review of the previous night's reading, a short prayer and some soft music launch Soapy into a flawless, but genuine reading of the ancient scriptures. |
"Freed from the effort of reading, most people marvel at the power of the Biblical narrative, only later realizing that all the books of the Bible were originally written to be experienced, and indeed were experienced for centuries, in just this way -- by listening!"
- Soapy |
From Genesis to Revelation, Soapy reads the entire Bible each year. Alternating between Old and New Testaments books, he goes from start to finish through both, serving a Psalm or Proverb, like a dessert, at the end of every program. Thus, he offers his listeners the riveting stories, the moral lessons, the history, poetry, romance, and drama of the Bible itself, that Book we've all heard so much about but just can't find time to read for ourselves.
Following that first reading, listeners are invited to call in "live" and respond to the reading. Often there are touching stories of what certain verses have meant to someone who is hurting or struggling. Taxi and truck drivers, military and civilian night shift workers, teachers, plumbers, and sales reps, parents and grandparents, sometimes entire families listening together - they all say in one way or another how much they appreciate the chance to hear the Bible. |
| Soapy has a Master's degree, an honorary doctorate, and forty years of ministry experience to answer questions and offer spiritual counsel. However, he emphasizes basic truths held in common by most believers, reminding listeners that they need their own pastor and church fellowship for finer doctrinal instruction and healthy growth. The "live" interaction has triggered more interest in the text, and right on cue, the music comes up and the "spotlight" returns to the Bible as the reading is repeated to end the night's broadcast. |
"The Bible is the best-selling, most translated book in history. Almost everyone and every family has one...somewhere...if we could only remember where we last saw it."
