Ps. 34—36

Numbers 27:12—36:13

Deut. 1—6:15

1. Deuteronomy, the name of Moses’ fifth book, is title given in the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the scriptures.  What does it mean?  The second law (taken from 17:18 “a copy of this law”), actually second giving of the law or the giving of the law to the second generation of Israel after Egypt

2. The book of Deuteronomy is written in what legal format of the times?  Treaty between a king and his vassel state (also, some say it was Moses’ last will and testament)

3. Moses first reviews the relationship of God with Israel, which began formally when and where?  1:6, at base of Mt. Sinai, after receiving and committing to obey the Ten Commandments

4. What information were the 12 spies supposed to bring back from their 40 days of exploring Canaan?  1:22, the best invasion route and the cities which should be attacked first
